We Are Here, We Are Now, We are ONE – Celebrating Nurses week 2026

At Duchess International Hospital, delivering world-class standard of healthcare relies on a powerful combination of clinical mastery, advanced technology, and unwavering empathy.

This month, we turned the spotlight toward the absolute core of this mission, our extraordinary nursing team.

Nurses Week 2026 was a vibrant, multi-layered celebration designed to honour the professionals who provide care and compassion to our patients and drive excellence in healthcare leadership.

Here is a look back at the moments that defined this year’s milestone event.

Learning, Bonding, and Building the Future

The week launched with a dynamic mix of professional development and team camaraderie. Day 1 brought our nursing community together for insightful panel sessions and lectures led by top industry minds, focusing on the future of nursing practice and standard-setting in tertiary care.

But excellence also requires a strong community. The atmosphere quickly turned festive with high-energy games, team-bonding exercises, and a raffle draw that kept spirits soaring. The joy didn’t stop when the lectures ended, the team wrapped up the opening festivities with spontaneous singing, dancing, and a true display of the vibrant culture that defines the Duchess family.

“Nursing is more than a profession; it’s a commitment to care, to serve, and to make a difference every day.”

A Night of Elegance, Tradition, and Miracles

The crowning jewel of the week was the Grand Nurses Week Dinner. The evening brought together the entire Duchess nursing staff, heads of departments and hospital management. Prominent nursing leaders from across Nigeria were also at the occasion – Com Christianah Adeboboye (Chairman NANNM, Lagos State Chapter, Nr Ajibike Shanu (Coordinator School of Post Basic Nephrology, LUTH), and Dr Mrs Olubukola Olawuyi (Provost College of Nursing, LUTH).

The event beautifully merged the rich heritage of the profession with modern celebration. Guests were treated to a captivating cultural display, followed by a deeply moving tradition: a symbolic procession honouring the legacy of Florence Nightingale, reminding us all of the timeless purpose behind this calling.

Our nurses also traded their scrubs for the red carpet, showing up in dazzling dinner wear that brought a serious dose of style and glamour to the evening.

Empowered Nurses Save Lives

Beyond the celebrations, Nurses Week served as a powerful reminder of why patient-centric care matters. From our dedicated ER Nurses and NICU team helping families witness their own “miracle stories” daily to our senior nurses mentoring the next generation of caregivers, our nursing team continues to shape the future of medicine in Nigeria.

To Nurses all over the world
