Breast Cancer Screening

(For Women Only) [40 – 75]
Early detection of breast cancer is paramount. Detecting breast cancer in its early stages increases treatment options and improves survival rates. Many women who undergo regular screening are diagnosed at an early stage when the cancer is most treatable.

For Nigerian women, it’s important to recognise that ethnicity can also influence risk. Studies have shown that individuals of Black ethnicity, including Nigerians, may face a higher risk of developing breast cancer. Understanding these risk factors empowers women to make informed decisions about their health. Given the potentially higher risk for African women, it is advisable to consider screening earlier and more frequently than the general population. Early detection can significantly improve treatment outcomes and increase the chances of survival.

Our hospital is committed to providing comprehensive breast cancer screening services to Nigerian women. We offer state-of-the-art screening methods, utilizing mammography which helps identify any changes or potential problems in the breast tissue.

Prostate Cancer Screening

(For Men Only) [45 – 75]

Prostate cancer is highly treatable when caught in its early stages. That’s why it’s crucial for men to undergo regular screening starting at age 40. Our screening program emphasizes the importance of early detection, offering men the opportunity to take control of their health and well-being.

We utilize state-of-the-art multiparametric MRI (mpMRI) technology for prostate cancer screening. Unlike traditional screening methods, mpMRI provides a detailed picture of the prostate gland, allowing for more accurate detection of abnormalities.

Benefits of mpMRI Screening:

  • Accuracy: mpMRI reduces the likelihood of false-positive or false-negative results, providing men with greater peace of mind and reducing unnecessary biopsies.
  • Early Detection: By detecting prostate cancer at its earliest stages, we increase the chances of successful treatment and improved outcomes.
  • Non-Invasive: Unlike traditional biopsy methods, mpMRI is non-invasive, making the screening process more comfortable for patients.

Bowel Cancer Screening

(For all genders) [40 – 75]

Colorectal cancer can affect anyone, but certain factors can increase your risk. These include being overweight or obese, lack of physical activity, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, a diet high in red meats, and a family history of colorectal cancer or polyps. Age is a significant factor in colorectal cancer risk. While it’s more common after age 50, recent trends show rising rates among younger individuals. Additionally, ethnicity plays a role, with Black individuals facing higher risks and mortality rates from colorectal cancer. However, early detection through screening can save lives regardless of age or ethnicity.

Colorectal cancer often develops without symptoms in its early stages, making regular screenings essential. Screening tests, such as colonoscopy, can detect precancerous polyps or early-stage cancer when treatment is most effective. We encourage individuals aged 40-75 to prioritize regular screenings.

Don’t wait for symptoms to appear. By taking proactive measures and scheduling a screening, you’re investing in your long-term health and well-being.
