What an amazing day it was as Duchess International Hospital Celebrated One Big Year of impeccable health service delivery with premium world class and, affordable health care!
The Duchess first year anniversary hosted at the hospital auditorium, was graced by a number of dignitaries including The vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Prof Yemi Osinbajo (virtually); The Executive Governor of Lagos state Babjide Sonwolou was represented by TheHonorable commissioner of Health Lagos state Professor Akin Abayomi present at the event Lagos State and other dignitaries such as Otunba Alaba Shonibare, Chief Olusegun Osunkeye and many more.
In attendance was also the Chairman of the Redington Hospital group Dr Yemi Onobowale as well as board Member Dr Mrs Onobowale Board member; of course the Chief Executive Officer Duchess Hospital Doctor Adetokunbo Shitta-Bay with the ceremony anchored by Mr Patric Doyle
The vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in his congratulatory message reiterated his wonderful experience as a patient during his orthopedic surgery carried out here at Duchess International Hospital. He commended the comfortable hospital accommodations which enjoyed during his 1 week post operative stay at Duchess and felicitated with the institution on one big year of excellence.
He stated
“… I am possibly the best person to confirm that the Duchess hospital has proved to be world class both in the quality of its medical personnel and its management; and that it is living up to its mission … ‘to reverse medical tourism by delivering the highest standards of care using the most advanced technology and treatments to give the fastest most convenient access to the best medical expertise available anywhere in the world”
One of the distinguished guests during his speech stated how amazed he was that a world class hospital would cost just N5,000 for registration at the hospital and N5,000 for consultation; saying that hopefully, there would be edifices such as Duchess across Nigeria that people can have trust in.
The CEO, Dr. Adetokunbo Shitta-Bay highlighted the five key objectives of Duchess. Which are

5.Directly addressing the needs of the local population.
He Also announced the official launch of the waiting list initiative; a private public sector initiative involving the collaboration between Duchess international hospitals and Lagos state university teaching. This initiative is aimed at cutting down the cardiothoracic surgeries at the Lagos state hospital.
The Honorable Commissioner of Health Lagos State Professor Akinola Abayomi on behalf of the Governor of Lagos state Babajide Somwolu, congratulated Duchess on one year of success and outstanding accolades. During his speech he stated that the private health sector makes a significant contribution to healthcare. He also commended Duchess on its opulent availability of expertise, it’s wonderful reputation and exceptional hospitality settings
The Chairman of the Redington Hospital group Dr Yemi Onobowale used the opportunity to request partnership with the Lagos state governments toward visiting less privileged communities to deliver health care services to those communities as well as to thank all dignitaries and everyone present for honoring the event
The wonderful Ceremony was concluded with a vote of thanks from the Chief Operating Officer Madam Unnati Jhingram.
It was indeed a memorable one and a wonderful celebration of one big step for Duchess and many more to come.
