Brief Summary of the Grand Round:
Primary Hypertension is a significant cardiovascular disease risk factor that can be managed but
largely incurable.
However, secondary causes of hypertension including Mineralocorticoid Related Hypertension
can potentially be curable if suspected and diagnosed.
Reports reveal a prevalence of up to 10% of individuals with hypertension are Mineralocorticoid
Related hence diagnosis and management of this category of patients with hypertension is of
importance in reducing morbidity and mortality attributable to hypertension especially among
young individuals.
