Brief Summary of the Grand Round:
Contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI) is a form of acute kidney injury that occurs after the administration of iodinated contrast material, often used during diagnostic imaging procedures. Though often silent in onset, it can significantly increase hospital stay, morbidity, and mortality. With the growing use of contrast-enhanced studies, awareness and prevention of CI-AKI are crucial. This session will explore the pathophysiology, risk factors, prevention, and management of contrast induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI). Through evidence-based discussion and clinical case reviews, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how to balance diagnostic clarity with kidney safety.
